Resume
Ahmed Omar — Data Scientist
I am a data scientist with more than a decade of experience translating complex data into decisions, products, and scalable analytical systems. My work spans marketplace and product analytics, experimentation, machine learning, geospatial analysis, competitive intelligence, and the design of data products used by technical and business teams.
I have worked across the full analytical lifecycle: framing ambiguous problems, evaluating data quality, designing experiments and measurement approaches, developing models and pipelines, and communicating recommendations to stakeholders. I am particularly interested in work where statistical rigor and engineering discipline need to meet real operational constraints.
My recent interests include generative AI, AI-agent evaluation, trustworthy analytical workflows, and systems that help analysts surface and rank useful insights. I also hold a Master’s in Applied Data Science from Utrecht University and write about statistics, machine learning, and applied AI on this website.
Areas of expertise
Data science leadership · Product and marketplace analytics · Experimentation and causal inference · Machine learning · Geospatial analytics · Data storytelling · Generative AI and agents.
I approach senior data-science work as a combination of technical depth, business judgment, and communication. That means challenging assumptions, documenting trade-offs, validating results before recommending action, and designing solutions that other people can understand and maintain. I am most effective in cross-functional environments where analytical findings must influence product, strategy, operations, or investment decisions.
